SoCal gets break from the heat with cooler conditions arriving Sunday

A much-anticipated cooldown is expected to arrive Sunday across Southern California.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) –After a lengthy stretch of extreme temperatures across Southern California, a much-anticipated break from the heat arrives Sunday.

While conditions will remain warm Sunday, cooler weather is expected to drop temperatures below seasonal norms through the first half of next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Moisture is also expected to return, bringing slight chances for showers during the middle of the week. Thunderstorms are also possible in mountain areas.

Los Angeles and Orange counties Sunday will see a high of 89 degrees and a low of 64. Temperatures drop to 85 Monday.

The valleys and Inland Empire Sunday can expect sunshine, with a high of 98 degrees and a low of 68. Temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-90s Monday.

Beach communities Sunday will see a high of 79 degrees and a low of 69. Expect similar temperatures Monday.

Mountain communities Sunday will see sunny and gusty conditions, with a high of 79 degrees and a low of 46.

Desert areas Sunday can expect sunny conditions, with a high of 93 degrees and a low of 57. Palm Springs is expected to reach 107 degrees.
