Several former OLL players are under contract with Chelsea: Lucy Bronze, Kadeisha Buchanan, Ellie Carpenter and Melvine Malard. Sonia Bompastor and Camille Abily also return to their former place of work.
Chelsea started with a narrow win against Austria Wien, while OLL put an exclamation mark with an 8-0 win against Servette. Marie-Antoinette Katoto shone with a hat-trick.
Thursday in focus: Austria Vienna – Inter
Austria Vienna and Inter are celebrating their debut in the league phase this season and were already convincing at the start. The Viennese stood up to Chelsea for a long time in the narrow 0-1 defeat, while Inter beat Häcken 1-0 with an early goal from Haley Bugeja.
Austria Vienna qualified with a 4-0 win against Brann, Inter beat Wolfsburg on penalties. In addition to young talents like Bugeja, the Nerazzurre have plenty of international experience with Lina Magull, Olivia Schough and Elisa Bartoli.
Player in focus: Felicia Schröder, Real Madrid
At the age of 16, Felicia Schröder reached the quarterfinals of the Women’s Champions League with Häcken. Three years later, the Swede is one of the most exciting young players in Europe and has been nominated for Young Talent of the Year at the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
After scoring four goals in the two finals of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, Schröder moved to Real Madrid in the summer. There she scored in both qualifying games against Ajax and also in the 1-1 draw against Paris SG at the start of the league phase.
Schröder’s next game: Manchester City – Real Madrid (Thursday)
Player in focus: Alberte Vingum, HB Køge Women
When HB Køge last took part in 2021/22, Alberte Vingum was still the substitute goalkeeper. The 21-year-old is now a regular goalkeeper and a Danish national player – and at the start against Arsenal she impressively showed why she is one of the most promising young goalkeepers in Europe.
In the narrow 0-1 defeat, Vingum could only be defeated with a penalty from Mariona Caldentey in stoppage time. Now the next task awaits: Servette.
Vingum’s next game: HB Køge Women – Napkin (Thursday)
