The Fletton and Woodston by-election is now just a few weeks away – and all the candidates have been confirmed for the vote.
The council by-election is needed following the resignation of Daisy Blakemore-Creedon in May.
Ms Blakemore-Creedon had been sitting as an independent councillor when she resigned, having been initially elected for the Labour Party in 2024.
The by-election will take place on Thursday, July 16.
Who is standing?
There are six candidates in the by-election.
They are (listed in alphabetical order by surname):

Ryan Gallagher (Reform UK)
Lewis Page (Liberal Democrats)
Katherine Sharp (Green Party)
Jonathan Wilde (Your Party)
The results of the by-election will be announced overnight on July 16/17.
Deadlines to register to vote
Anyone living in the Fletton and Woodston ward who wishes to vote in the by-election has until Tuesday, June 30 to register.
.The postal vote application deadline is 5pm on Wednesday July 1
The proxy vote application deadline is 5pm on Wednesday July 8.
People who wish to vote will need photo ID – such as a passport or driving licence – when they go to the ballot box.
If you do not have photo ID, you can get a Voter Authority Certificate – the deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday July 8.
Fletton and Woodston ward
There are currently two city councillors in the ward – both having been elected in 2026.
He won a by-election, which had been called following the sad death of Labour’s cllr Nick Thulbourn.
In May, during city wide council elections, Cllr Ed Murphy was elected to take up his position in the ward.
His seat had been previously held by Labour’s Alan Dowson, who passed away in January.
In May, the ward had a turn out of 34.5 per cent. In the February by-election the turn out was 25.2 per cent.

The current make-up of Peterborough City Council looks like this:.
The Conservatives are the largest party with 13 elected representatives.
Labour (including Labour and Co-operative) are second with 11 councillors. However, their party leader, Cllr Shabina Qayyum, remains Leader of the Council due to a coalition with other parties.
The Liberal Democrats have eight councillors, which is also the same number as Independent and Peterborough First councillors currently sitting in the council chamber.
The Green Party have six members on the authority, while Reform UK have five.
