In the first game of the UEFA Women’s Champions League at the AFC Wimbledon Stadium, Chelsea will play against Austria Vienna on matchday one.
Last encounter
It is the first meeting between the two teams and Austria Vienna’s first game against an English club.
Chelsea are playing against Austrian opponents for the second time: last season they won on 3rd matchday of the league phase with a 6-0 win at St. Pölten.
Chelsea reached the final of the Women’s Champions League in 2021, where one 0-4 against Barcelona in Gothenburg lost. Austria Vienna is in the group phase/league phase for the first time. In the second qualifying round they won against Hajduk Split (3:2) and Constanta Lighthouse (5:0) and in the third with a total of 5:2 against Brann (1:2 a, 4:0 h). Modesta Uka scored six goals in these four games.
After the defeat against Paris FC (0:0 a, 0:2 h) in the third qualifying round of the 2025/26 Women’s Champions League, Austria reached the quarter-finals of the first edition of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, where they lost 1-3 to Sparta Praha (0:0 a, 1:3 h n.V.).
